Is the Plymouth area not that good? I had an interview with them this year

Just depends on what you're looking for tbh! Personally I was raised in London so it was just quite a big contrast in atmosphere and bit too far from home, however I do know some people who love it there

Ah ok  I live pretty close to London so I think I might firm St’ George’s. I also think it’s difficult to pass up an opportunity to study at a London med school, and especially a specialist health university in a hospital campus

Has anyone else who had an offer today not had their UCAS track updated? I received an offer via email but my SGUL portal still shows 'pending ucas update' and nothing on ucas track?

I got my offer On Wednesday and it still says ‘UCAS pending’...

Hi, I just got an offer to study medicine at St George’s and due to Covid I haven’t been able to visit. Was just wondering if anyone who studies there could message me and answer a few questions that I have about the university.

Hi there @lheighes17

So there's a couple of options for you:
1) You can DM this account on the student room with any and all questions and one of us will reply to you as soon as we can
or
2) You can go here to chat to our current students on Unibuddy, who will be happy to answer any questions you might have.

Hope that helps!

Hi

Tooting is a great place to live - it's really diverse, there's some amazing restaurants, and there's some good places for nights out, and it's super easy to hop on the tube and go into central! There's a shop right by halls, and then lots of shops on Tooting high street, and there's an aldi about a 7 minute walk away from halls.

I came from a tiny village and was scared about living in London and what it would be like and I've loved it so much that I'm hoping to live in SW London even after I finish my degree!

Best wishes,
Lauren

Hey Lauren yes!

I was wondering if you have links to any good resources online of student Q&A’s etc?

What it’s like to study there, campus, support, community..

Thanks

I received an offer last Tuesday but my UCAS still hasn't been updated and portal says 'pending ucas update'. Should I be concerned or is anyone else's still like this? I've tried calling admissions but no one picks up...

Hey!

If you go on our website you can chat to one of our representatives, below is a link:

https://www.sgul.ac.uk/study/chat-to-our-students

In the mean time I can answer some of your questions here:

1. I'm unsure what the degree you are going to study but I can assure you that the lecturers are super helpful and very much knowledgeable. We have a cosy library with lots of resources and if books that you are wanting aren't available then you can pretty much get an online copy of it via the online library. If you let me know what course you will be studying I can be a bit more focused for this answer
2. We are based inside a hospital so we have that exposure from day 1 and to be honest I quite like that. As a medical student it definitely makes the transition easier! We also have an SU in the building where lots of activities take place (and will do so again). It feels like the entire Tooting is St. George's' campus because it's all so very near to each other!
3. A lot of support is available and staff and students are usually very receptive of your needs. We have a system called mums and dads where students in years above care/look after us during the time at university and it really creates a community feeling! I hope this answers the 4th question but ...
4. Community - lots and lots of choices of clubs and societies to choose from. And if none tickle your fancy, you can make your own and add that experience to your CV!

I hope this helps! Let me know if there is anything else you would like to know and I am more than happy to answer!

Best Wishes,

Hi guys, graduate offer holder here! Like many, my place was deferred last year so I can't wait to get started in September. Just a quick question - does anyone know when the deadline is for the DBS/occupational health form submission? It has last year's date on the website (31st July 2020) but just wondering if this has changed this year? Thanks!

Same here. I sent them an email on Wednesday, I think, and not heard back yet. It's minor, I'm assuming they've been busy with all the other applicants since. Let us know if you do manage to get through to them though!
