What's the difference between a university course on dietetics vs a dietetics and nutrition course?

Hello,

If these courses are at two different universities, it could just be that there is a difference in what they have decided to call the course.

However, the best way to check is have a look at the modules both courses study and compare them. This will allow you to see if there is any variation and which interests or suits you the most. The modules should be on the course page but if not, you could email the universities to find out.

Good luck with your applications.

Hi @Abigail.child,

Thank you for your query.

I don't believe there is a difference between Dietetics and Dietetics and Nutrition. The principle behind Dietetics is learning about the foundations of nutrition and learning about the relationship it has on different conditions so that dietary advice can be provided to improve a health outcome. Nutrition is already incorporated because that's what Dietetics is in essence.

According to the British Dietetic Association (BDA), selected universities are approved by the HCPC and accredited by the BDA to ensure all courses cover what is required to become a Registered Dietitian, regardless of the differences in the course title. It's seemingly interchangeable but actually means the same thing.

Does this answer your question?
