Well the fact u applied for 4 completely different paths suggests your chances are pretty low.

How do you know that?

Who the **** are you to comment on people's chances.

Well if you read this thread a couple years back, you will find that they're looking for consistency in all four applications. In their opinion this shows the passion for subject. So if all four positions are different, how could they see this passion for any of the topics?
This year they've even specifically mentioned that shortlisted candidates profiles will be checked for consistency before invitations are sent out.

No confirmation here either, but I got a report from my mailserver that the email hasn't been sent. I contacted my ISP and they said it was a problem with the NHS mailserver not recognising the mailbox.
Going to give them a call tomorrow morning to check everything has gone through okay.
In the Previous years it was advised to only apply for one area as all four choices are shown on the application sheet. This year as it's on nhs jobs site nobody knows what other jobs you have applied for. And also, so what if you put different choices down, people are allowed to have an interest in more than one area, that's the whole point that this year you can rotate through blood sciences, for example, and possibly change pathways .

They will still see all the choices you've been shortlisted for
And I'm not saying you CAN'T have interest in many different things, I'm merely stating that from NHS point of view this shows lack of passion/commitment to the chosen specialism. It will probably be OK if your applications are for one general area (i.e. different specialisms of Medical Physics), but may not play to your advantage if you apply for physics, CV sciences and immunology and get shortlisted for all of them.
That's spot on and I have only applied for one discipline, but if we are being assessed by scores then each application Is scored individually, and I doubt there's a category which says "lose 10 points if candidate has applied for more than one area" . I think if you score high enough for interview they may ask you to choose one discipline only. it's so unfair to bin it for trying to increase your chances!

But say if you are shortlisted for all of your different choices - it will be pretty damn hard to prepare for interviews that are different subjects and so close in dates, which would severely cut down your chances of getting through compared to candidates who are only solely interested in one area..
I think people on here probably need to calm down a little bit since 1) we're all adults discussing our career paths, right? and 2) it's an internet forum...

Your primary issue applying for those 4 paths is that if you are shortlisted that's quite possibly 4 different assessment centre dates.

I applied for 2 specialisms that aren't all that related, primarily because I realised how few places there were going to be in Micro. I then went away and researched the other areas and found something I understood the science in and found fascinating (H & I) and attended an open day at their lab to be sure. Perhaps this person is in a similar situation?

I agree everyone needs to relax a little. At the end of the day the people who are shortlisted are shortlisted. Everyone constantly guessing about our chances, guessing about how our applications will be percieved/scored and comparing ourself to each other isn't going to have an impact on anything.

Still heard nothing back from scotland applications woe is me ect.
I agree with the above comments. I've started using this forum less and less because each day involves just repetitive questions again and again without any thought before clicking 'post' it seems. It makes me despair when 10 people ask the same question because they haven't bothered to read the NHS website. We're adults, aren't we?

If you get an offer you will get an offer. Let it be.
It seems internet cabin fever has officially set in and people are getting nasty now!

Hi, yes I was at the northampton open day, in the afternoon. I guess theres not much more we can do, except try again next year, hopfully there will be more jobs in coming years but what to do in the meantime?? Are you doing a phd and working as a BMS at the same time?

Lucky you! Well done!! Which discipline did you apply for? Did you have variations in your choice for example did you apply for genetics and immunology?
Clinical biochemistry I would assume.
