Hi there,

When deciding between courses, there are so many factors that will be of varying importance to different people, meaning that your preference might be different to someone else’s.
Having said that, I’ll speak from the perspective of a Cranfield student to let you know some of the things that have supported my learning, career, and uni experience while here.

The first thing many people look at is the focus of each of the courses. Even if they all have the same title, looking at the individual modules, and the module content, can inform you about the focus.
If you know what job role you want from this course, or have a particular interest within robotics, maybe one will have more on that topic than the others. Alternatively, you could choose a more broad course that will allow you to explore all areas in a quickly-expanding field, that can keep your career options open and give you the chance to discover new areas of interest.
You can see the Cranfield modules and read about their content here:

Another thing to think about is the quality of education.
This MSc is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) on behalf of the Engineering Council as meeting the requirements for further learning for registration as a Chartered Engineer (CEng).
The course is also informed by an Industrial Advisory Panel who meet twice a year to ensure that it provides the right mix of hands-on skills and up-to-date knowledge suitable for to the wide variety of applications that this field addresses.

Something you might also want to consider is opportunities within our course to engage with industry, meet potential employers, and gain valuable contacts.
This course particularly hosts annual student thesis presentations before graduation, which is an opportunity to meet key employers, and show off your work!
Also, the industrial partner, ABB Robotics, also delivers practical workshops at their state-of-the-art Milton Keynes training facility, giving you the opportunity to meet another major employer but also develop skills used frequently in the industry.
It’s also very common for the individual project (40% of your course) to be put forward by an industrial partner looking for a solution to a real-world problem.

Cranfield is very career-focused, so have several things like the careers and employability service, career-focused clubs and societies, and CV-building opportunities throughout the uni.
The careers service offers so many different supports, from improving your CV, to interview skills, to salary negotiations, so you can have help in every stage of finding a job after graduation. Check out more of what they offer here:

Clubs and societies are great for making friends, finding new hobbies, and enjoying free time in every uni. Cranfield is also home to several clubs that can support your skills for your future career, including the aeronautical society, CranSEDS, the consulting society, women in leadership society, and more!

I’ve focused a lot on stuff particular to this MSc, but Cranfield has a lot to offer outside of that too, so feel free to have a look around our website here:

Best of luck with your decision!
