Laptop Reccomendations

It will depend to some extent on the exact spec and condition and price of the individual laptop.

Aim for a 1920 (FHD) resolution screen. One that isn't a touchscreen. Touchscreens use more battery juice. Higher resolution screens use more battery too. But you don't want a 1366 resolution screen as these are too crappy for 2023.

Best battery would be the Thinkpad 270 with the 6 cell external (clip-on) battery option. Downsides would be the weight would be bumped up to 1.5 kgs.

A Dell Latitude 7390 with a 1920 screen (no touchscreen), 8th gen i5 CPU would be a good compromise in battery life and weight (1.3 kgs) and quality and price (if you buy right off ebay). You should be able to get a fully working one for £150 to £190 from ebay.
Dell latitude 7300's are starting to become available for under £200 on ebay and these would be a great choice too.

Lenovo x1 Carbons are good, but you tend to have to pay a premium for these when compared to other premium business laptops.

Dell 7xxx series are more premium than Dell 5xxx. Might as well go for 7xxx series as the price difference is minimal.

Whatever you buy, you will be looking at replacing the battery sooner or later. This is not a big deal. Cost wil be £35ish and 15 minutes screwdriver work.

5. Dell latitude 7280 7270 core
6. Dell latitude 5470

not sure which will be best in terms of battery, quality and weight. would prefer something light not heavy
