Hey, I’m also using Duolingo for Arabic!
I don’t think Duolingo alone will get you fluent. You’d probably need to immerse yourself in the language (watching shows, talking to people etc.). Also, the way Duolingo teaches reading is quite impractical. I already knew how to read before I started, but if you don’t know how to read, maybe YouTube videos or a teacher would help more with it. Depending on your uni, you may be able to do it as an optional module, which could really help you out. Duolingo is a great start though and it can greatly improve your understanding. Good luck
