Does anyone know what is happening to the BMAT for medicine applicants applying in 2024? I am really keen on applying to Imperial for Medicine but heard they are removing the BMAT for 2024 onwards. If so, does anyone know what type of exam we may be sitting alternatively? Is there a possibility we may not sit an exam?
Hey there, thanks for posting a question in the Medicine forum.
The Medicine forum gets a high volume of questions being posted, and some of these are already answered by the resources and Megathreads that members of the community and volunteers have created. This is an automatic post which is designed to highlight these resources. Below is a list of threads and articles that could answer your question (you should be looking in the original post of the megathreads). If one of the below threads is a more relevant place to ask your question, please post a reply in that thread to ask your question. If your query is answered by one of the Megathreads or articles linked below, and you would like us to close this thread for you, please reply to this thread with just the words "thank you". A member of our team will then get it locked.

I think I have read a separate thread of yours on this. If you are aiming to start medicine in 2024, so applying in October 2023, then the BMAT hasnt changed.
Its only for people applying in 2024 onwards for med school starting 2025 onwards who will be effected.
Also, as i am sure you are aware, one of the big risks with BMAT is that you apply for medicine before you even sit the BMAT this year. I would strongly suggest that you also explore the UCAT requirements so you can have a blended application and not put all your eggs in a BMAT basket (let alone solely focussing on Imperial).

If you're applying in 2024 (i.e for 2025 entry), the BMAT will not be used. I don't think there's been an official statement regarding what the replacement will be, but I will be incredibly surprised if there is no exam. It is more likely that Imperial will use the UCAT or a new entrance exam. If you're applying for 2024 entry (i.e this October), the BMAT is still being used.
