Why is it that the government made it so you don't need to pass science to do A Level

Anymore? Is this because most people fail science? (As in you need 5 A* to Cs including Maths and English but no need to pass science with C and above to do A Level?)
Have they? I thought it was at the discretion of the school/college.

My school insisted that you needed at least a B grade at GCSE to do the A-level in it. I believe this was an A grade for maths and a few other subjects.

Do you mean to take that science at A level or to do any subjects? Because if someone wants to do something like history or english I guess passing in science doesn't really make any difference to them
You need science if you're planning to go on and do a sciencey subject.
