Can I still get a first class degree?

I am studying accounting & finance at the University of Birmingham. I finished the second year with 65.8 (provisional). The second year counts for 25% of my overall grade and the third year for 75%. With my current average I need around 71.5 in my final year for a first class degree. Is this impossible to achieve?

And I recently failed a paper worth 50% of a module by 1.5 marks and I’m wondering if it’s worth to appeal. I received an A (74) for the other 50%.

Thanks in advance.

a 71.5% average in the third year sounds pretty possible to me

it is only worth appealing if you have a reason to believe you should've done noticeably better. a few extra marks will not do very much for you - it would still be a very low passing grade
i would do what is needed to achieve a 71.5 in your final year. do they tell you what is expected for that mark?

what do they expect or need to accept an appeal and give you a higher mark?

What would be your basis for appealing?

You can't generally appeal against anything that involves the academic judgement of the marker.
