I am in year 12 moving into year 13. I wish I had taken further maths in year 12. I am wondering if it is possible or recommended to self teach the further maths AS course in the summer holidays to join A2 course students in September? If so, what resources will be useful for this?

First of all check if your school will even allow you to do so. Also you mention self teaching AS further over summer. What about A2 standard maths?? Depending on how much a level maths you have done already it might be possible to self teach but if you have just done AS so far then I wouldn't recommend it. A2 maths is MUCH harder than AS and further maths is an even bigger step up. Also it's worth asking people at your school how they actually teach further maths. Some schools teach all the a level maths content first and then do further, others do them simultaneously. For reference, I am also yr 12 studying further maths at a top grammar school which likes to teach us all the content at an incredibly fast pace so we have time to revise at the end. We had finished A level content before Easter and are close to finishing A2 pure maths in further.

The above post is completely right. Definitely check if it’s possible to do this and perhaps get an idea of what further maths entails first before committing to the idea.
Also, which exam board and elective papers would you be doing if you were to go ahead with this? The content differs pretty wildly by exam boards, and only Edexcel seems to have a decent number of resources.

The exam board is Edexcel, do you think it could maybe be possible? Maybe with a tutor or online course over the summer?
Thank you very much, I am absolutely prepared to work. I hope to get into LSE economics (my absolute dream course) and if this helps me somewhat then I'm absolutely prepared.

I see. Then that rather necessitates taking further maths. Iirc not taking FM when your sixth form offers it would be inexcusable to LSE.
Best of luck with this endeavour and let us hope it is worth it.

It "might" be possible if you love maths, are very bright, and work incredibly hard over the summer, but like the others have said, you will need to check with your school that they will let you to do it, AND, that they will somehow predict you A*/A in FM soon after you get back in Sep.
Even if they let you do it, without A*/A prediction across the board, including in FM, you will have no chance of getting into LSE as it is brutally competitive.
