Personally, I would suggest facebook groups or instagram pages for freshers are a good way of meeting your college mates before starting university.

Vyomika has given some great advice - facebook and whatsapp groups are the best ways to meet new students. Just note that, once clearing period is over, there will be more groups and it will get more active so best to look out then!
