Do I leave my degree apprenticeship?

Long-story short, I got myself into a really difficult situation that i'm now struggling to get out of. I took a degree apprenticeship that meant I re-located across the country, I'm in year 1. I was hopeful I could be transferred to another office, but the logistics of it have said to be difficult for the company and I can't do it. I'm under financial duress living out here due to the inflated cost of living, and i'm missing my family and everything back home so much. I feel extremely stuck and don't know what to do. I'm considering perhaps dropping out of the apprenticeship and just continuing the degree? I have no idea.

Do you like the job and the degree course? If you do then is your employer aware of the financial difficulties you are having? Maybe if they were and they want you to carry on they might be a bit more flexible? I take it you are quite young and relocating like this must have been a big step for you.

As regards missing home, friends and family. I've been in the same situation. It's not easy but you just have to try to make new friends where you are now. For me I used to play Rugby and joined the local Rugby Club. It didn't take long to get a good social life going. Are there any hobbies and or interests you have which could help you make friends by joining clubs etc.

Speak with your employer and colleagues to get some advice. Your employer may have resources to help. Your colleagues may also have good advice. You’ll find most of your graduate colleagues will be experts in student budgeting.

As for socialising, join your local student union. They’ll have societies you can join to mingle with other students. That was the best part of my degree apprenticeship for me.
