When I start talking to a girl romantically, what are steps I can take to avoid her becoming obsessed with me?

There aren’t really any steps you can take per se, short of just being horrible to her. Which i don’t recommend if you’re talking to a girl romantically.

1. Date 'normal' women with relatively stable relationship histories & lifestyles.

2. Don't lie to women to try and look like you fit all their 'checkboxes' for an 'ideal partner'. It has to be said, because some guys like to do this & see 'nothing wrong' with it.

3. Also avoid women who have stupid 'checkboxes' in the first place. Having standards is good, nothing wrong with that. Having dumb/unpragmatic expectations like "6ft", "must be italian", "must have a trimmed beard", "must have a dark husky voice & square jaw".... fk off. Even if you are that 'perfect guy'... avoid those women. In fact, especially if you are that 'perfect guy', avoid those. You would be indulging her fetish and nothing more than that.
