Focus more on A-levels that will put you in better stead for a Law degree (essay writing ones). Your A-levels when you're at firm application stage towards the end of your degree won't matter as much as the grades you got in them.

Some firms have A-level minimums for their applications (usually hovering around AAB - ABB).

Good luck!

Hi @ibbyndow,

It's great that you're already thinking about you future and you have plans to get there. The A-levels you have chosen may well prove beneficial due to their essay-based nature. Ultimately, while your chosen A-levels can provide an academic foundation, a law degree itself will provide the specialised legal knowledge for a career in corporate law.
That being said, choose subjects that you are genuinely interested in and that align with your strengths as interest and dedication are key factors to succeeding. Additionally, research different law schools for their preferences and requirements to make sure you meet their entry criteria with your choices. It may be helpful to chat to your school's career advisor or a teacher to get more personalised advice based on your goals and the universities you'd like to attend.

Good luck

Any two traditionally academic A-levels (e.g. any of the subjects you have suggested) plus any one further A-level. Law courses don't care what subjects you have studied per se, just that you've done something formally academic (which may be humanities/social sciences subjects, or STEM subjects) and got excellent results in those areas.

Key is ensuring you get strong a level grades for uni applications (and subsequent training applications to law firms). "Traditional" academic subjects(ideally with at least some involving essay writing), have historically been the best choices (you do *not* need to do a-level law).

The subjects you've suggested above would all be excellent choices.
Traditionally English literature and history were a good to along with one other hard one - I did English lit, History and German. The first two involve quite a lot of essays and studying material in a way which is good preparation for law. However you can do a law degree even with maths, physics and chemistry. I would try to avoid newer subjects as some recruiters are quite old fashioned.
Literally doesn't matter for law - most law universities have no preferred subject for law.

Hello, I'm just wondering, why did you pick german? What level of german were you on before you applied for that subject? I am thinking about doing the same thing but I'm no further than the A2 level in german. Would you consider that choice as a good idea? Thanks for the reply in advance!!
