Geography Uni Students!!!

Hello !!!

I will start Geography (BA) this September at LSE.

I have a few questions. I'd highly appreciate it if you could answer them.

1. How has your experience been in the Geography programme so far?
2. How well does Geography prepare students for future employment or further studies? Are there any unique opportunities you've come across?
4. Have you ever been outside of the UK with your Geography classmates? If so, where and what did you do?
5. What should I keep in mind as a fresher and as a geography student?
6. How has your perspective on Geography evolved since you started your degree? Are there any key takeaways you'd like to share?

Many many thanks!

Hi,
Hope your enjoying your time at LSE studying Geography. I'm currently in my 3rd year studying Geography at Lancaster and have thoroughly enjoyed my time here, with a large factor of this being due to how much i enjoy the course. The university does lots to prepare students for employment, as each week in the department they get an environmental employer in to do a talk about their job and just job opportunities in general related to geography. I haven't travelled abroad with my degree, there was options for overseas fieldtrips but instead i chose a hydrology fieldtrip to Slapton in Devon, as this more suited my area of interests. My best advice, for a fresher would be to keep an open mind and try modules that you've never studied before, for instance in my 2nd year i picked a glaciers module, which i had never learn't about before and it ended up being one of my favorite modules that year. I'd say the main way my perspective has evolved is just realizing how broad the subject is and there's way more specialisms you can get involved in beyond what you get taught at A level.
Hope this helps!
