The phrase "the medical conference" is a tad vague. Do you have it's name, it's location, it's organiser, or any additional information about it?

(And let's hope it wasn't starting at 9am, assuming it's in the UK.)

OK. They run many of these conferences on multiple dates, sometimes in the morning (starting at 10:00am, with registration at 09:30am) and sometimes in the afternoon (starting at 2:00pm, with registration from 1:30pm).

It seems that they might have got themselves a little confused when sending out that e-mail. I wonder if that's any indication of the quality of the conference? The web site (here) says that today's session is "1:30pm-7pm (BST)" (seen green circle, bottom left on the page header), so I'd assume that's when it actually is:

Obviously, BST (British Summer Time) isn't in effect right now. But I suspect that's just another error in their part and that they actually mean "1:30pm-7pm (GMT)".
