After a quick Google, the consensus seems to be that they are of average reliability. It depends on the used Mini and how well it has been look after etc.

absolutely not. our 2015 countryman SD has cost us about £3,000 in a year and a half. Never a day without a warning light on, and its average mileage with mostly mini history. avoid avoid avoid
