Exeter University demographic in Postgrad
I graduated from Exeter’s Cornwall campus last year, and I am currently studying for my MA at Streatham. I don’t know if it’s the course or the demographic, but I am struggling. I have sensed some traces of academic elitism, and none of my family has even been to university, let alone postgrad; so compared to lecturers/course mates who possess a lot of cultural currency and family backgrounds in my field, can’t help but feel a strong sense of imposter syndrome as I’m really going through my studies with no prior knowledge or academic background! I just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this too.
( I have no issue with anyone I’ve met, they’re very nice people. I have just noticed I seem to be on a different planet to them sometimes! )
