Cheaper electric

Hey,

I'm starting a postgrad course this spring, and I've gotten a 1-bed flat with bills separate. Finding an energy provider is stressful...does anyone have suggestions? I have a smart meter and probably looking at a variable tariff not a fixed one....I'll spend most my time on campus so I'm trying to see if there's one that may charge a bit less at night (in reasonable hours), or is this unavoidable?

Currently I'm swaying to Octopus, but I'd like some advice from people who maybe know more about this!

(NB - I get my water included, flat runs on electricity only).

Thanks!

Advice on smart meters:

"If you have a smart meter, you can still switch energy supplier. Before you switch, it's a good idea to check if your meter will work in 'smart mode' after switching.
Smart mode means your meter automatically sends readings to your supplier.
