I wonder why

I wonder why people who do sports seriously are, kind of, narrow minded and a bit weird. I have several friends who are sportsmen and, I should say, they have very much in common - they all are the last to laugh at a good joke (more often they ask to explain what's funny), they are not very much interested in art, they don't smoke and don't drink and when I do that they look at me as if I'm eating a dead rat, really...
It looks they are very proud of themselves being so healthy and sporty, but on the other hand - let's face it - they are really stupid.
So do you agree, if you do too much sports your brain shrinks?

Some people dedicate themselves to studying - just as how some people dedicate themselves to sports.

Are you jealous about something?

Brain shrinks?  I don't think so but my maths teacher does sometimes say, "explain it to X as if you were talking to a PE teacher" so maybe there's some truth in it?
Ok you're generalising.
Not all sportspeople are like that.
But yeah they don't drink often or drugs because they have to keep themselves in peak physical condition. And sports can take over your life leading people to believe that you're narrow minded.
Oh and I'm quite a sportsperson and I appreciate art. So there

I think you're either trolling or bitter about something because that's a load of crap. People who do sports often take it seriously and yeah some take it so seriously they don't smoke or drink, however, a lot of sports are well-known for having good social lives/wide social circles and a lot are notorious for their drinking. I know a lot who smoke but yeah maybe that's less common amongst some sportsmen. And in my medical school, some of the sporting circles are the biggest social circles in the med school, often with them also being the heaviest drinkers and the ones who go to the most parties. Sometimes you get the ones who don't drink out of choice because they either don't want to or prefer to keep their training up but more often than not these are perfectly nice/intelligent/fun people.

P.S. Maybe they don't want to drink, and maybe your "jokes" aren't funny to them because they aren't funny fullstop. And some people just aren't interested in sport. If people are different to you, this doesn't mean they're boring or have a smaller brain.

P.P.S. I'm a rower. You should have seen the socialising before and after the Oxford/cambridge boat race yesterday, a lot being people who were in the Oxford/cambridge boat clubs themselves. I doubt the actual crews drank much in the weeks before their race but I doubt they're all absolutely teetotal

Yes because they are good at something, and you aren't - even at trolling.
Let me guess, you got rejected from your local football team.

BTW I wonder what's that over your shoulder?

Well said.

OP you are either trolling or very narrow minded yourself.

then I'm sorry, but I'm not trolling - just trying to find out something, which seems curious to me.
And you seem to be a bit agressive - maybe you were unlucky enough to meet to many trolls 'round here?
And why you think I'm not good at something? You don't even know me, how can you assume such things?

oh yeah, indeed. You sound like a VERRRRY intelligent person. Truly intelligent people always speak too much of how intelligent they are, otherwise none belives them.

yes, 'none' ever believes me!
OP you can't be that intelligent if you are so quick to generalise anyone that enjoys sport as narrow minded, dumb and basically inferior to you, on the basis that you know a few people who you view this way.

Can't you see how narrow minded and dumb this thread makes you appear?

Not nice to be judged in such a generalised way is it. Consider this before you judge anyone else.

Yet another stupid thread based upon a stereotype/generalisation :sigh:
