Imm still haven't heard?! Am I right thinking it was the 11th you were interviewed?
As Life Sciences, I was hoping to hear back this week ... but if you're still waiting, and I wasn't interviewed till the 15th ... maybe I shouldn't get my hopes up!

Good luck everyone ...

Yep that's right, I was interviewed on the 11th and no news yet! Meant to happen soon but I'm doubtful tbh, I get the impression they are in no rush and I think the delays from last week will have a knock on effect, although I hope I'm proved wrong
Fingers crossed for you!

Im hoping the delay with telling all the medical physics people doesnt have a knock-on effect on life sciences. Ideally I think they would tell us in the following order:

Monday - immuno/haem
Tuesday - biochem
Wednesday - micro
Thursday - histopath
Friday - genetics

I hope, I hope, I hope they will tell us in that order... If you are reading this recruitment people --- PLEASE TELL US ASAP

I really hope your right

It appears that they inform those on the waiting and rejection list first (probably on time) and then the acceptances are sent out once they have the confirmation from the trusts - which seems to take a few days. Why they are waiting for the trusts is a mystery, but it appears to have been done in that order for both Clinical Eng & Med Physics. So, although not all Med Physics have been told yet, there is no reason to assume a delay in those being told no (its a simpler process).

hey
i was the morning too, i applied to oxford but will go anywhere!
where did u apply too? x

Ah, we may have been interviewed together then! I applied to 3 in London and Southampton, so hoping for something in that area if anything at all!

What's your background/ experience ect? Did you find the interview set up as stressing as me? hehe

I would really like to know why it takes a trust days to give go-ahead. I also find it baffling why unsuccessful people are told first, usually its done the other way round. I am so frustrated. I can't plan anything.. My life is literally on hold.

5t4r - I am waiting for biochemistry but like you, dont know a thing yet. They are taking us for real mugs.

Well I'm a microbiologist, I work in drug discovery. I graduated a few years ago and every year since uni I've applied and this was first year at getting an interview so I'm hopin next year I will be successful hehe as I hold no hope for this year.
I found the whole process very stressful especially as they knew nothing about me, they didn't no I was a microbiologist and have no background in imm, so felt so stupid when I couldn't answer some of the questions! I don't like the fact they judge u solely on how u perform that day, I don't think it clearly shows if someone is capable or suitable for the job, but heyho, its all over for another year now.

What's ur background?

well i dont have a phd, i went to visit some of the lab prior to the interview and one of them told me they didnt even want to take someone on this year as they didnt agree with all the changes. they said that the programme allowed them to train ther person as they wanted but now they cant do that and have to stick to all the new guidlines, they werent happy about it! i though great way to encourage someone who is coming to see your lab and hopefully work for you! haha!!
at least ive tried and i will try again next year, at least i will be more prepared for next year

True. I worked in Oxford Immunology for two years and Oxford Micro for 6 months (didn't get shortlisted because I don't have a PhD, from my feedback. Didn't get shortlisted in Micro because my Msc won't be completed for another month - they used that as a cutoff). Still doing my MSc project in a lab and they're not overwhelmingly happy with the changes. Makes you wonder who is really!

I may try next year. Honestly it depends if I can find a job or not. If I find something permanent that I'm happy in I'll stick with that. Have done the whole part time education thing, it is insanely hard - particularly around exam times.

Good luck though!

Congratulations.

Are people in Medical Physics being told which specialism?
Hey,

New to this but was just checking on whether people have heard about the outcome of their interview.

I was told today I'm on the reserve list so in the outcome that someone doesn't want the position they have been offered I might be offered something.

I'll keep my fingers crossed but I'm not at all hopeful :-(

No specialism details, no start date etc. Really basic info. It just says the hospital and states that details will be confirmed by the trust.

i just rang them and asked if there was any news and was told that they've sent the recommendations to the departments and were in the process of confirming candidates, but that it could be the end of the week before we hear! Im getting sick of them constantly changing the deadline ...
