David Lammy was head boy at my school a few years back. He apparently got de-gowned for punching his best friend in the nose - apparently the friend got with his girlfriend! Well, that's the rumour, anyway - but his deputy definitely took over for him halfway through the year.

Lord Kelvin (Physicist; as in degrees Kelvin)
Thomas Andrews (chief designer of the Titanic)
Lord William Pirrie (Chairman of Harland and Wolff)
Paul Smith (creator of Who Wants to be a Millionaire)
Dawson Stelfox (first Irishman to reach the summit of Mount Everest)
Sir Donald Currie (founder of the South African Rugby Union competition, the Currie Cup)
Paul Rankin (TV Chef)
Paddy Brown (Ireland's most capped International Hockey player (151 caps.))

That along with around 70 Irish rugby internationals (most by any school in the UK).
