Antibody is responsible for neutralising and destroying antigens.
Antibody consist a four polypeptide chain, which is held by disulphide bridges.
Antibody also has a constant region which allows it bind onto the plasma membrane of phagocytes such as a macrophage
Antibody also have a variable region, which is complementary to a specific antigen, which is determined by the amino acid sequence.
Antibodies also have a hinge region, which allows flexibility, and causes the antibody to bind on one or more antigen, this is known agglutination and aids in photolysis
Antibodies can also neutralise toxins
Antibodies also bind to onto the antigens of a pathogen, and thus prevents pathogens from entering a host cell.

starch is made up of alpha glucose subunits.

Consists of a mixture of straight chain amylose and branched amylopectin.

in Amylopectin there are 1,4 glycosidic and some 1,6 glycosdic bonds while amylose only contains 1,4 glycosidic bonds.


starch contains C H O only

compact so makes it an excellent storage molecule

forms starch grains

Atherosclerosis is made easier by damaging the endothelial lining of the artery, thus it's easier to deposit cholesterol etc into it. Tar causes mutations in the bronchi and bronchioles, it paralyses cilia and stimulates goblet cells to produce mucus causing a build up of mucus which traps pathogens and eventually gravity pulls it downwards to the lungs causing various infections.

Nicotine raises blood pressure thus causing hypertension by making the platelets sticky, and this allows atheromas to form more easily, and these atheromas cause blockages in arteries, leading to strokes or CHD.
