What's the point of Arsenal qualifying for the UCL every year? They don't have a hope of winning. They'll just muddle along until they face any sort of decent opposition and then go out.

Do Arsenal fans seriously think they have a hope of winning the UCL? Can any sane person envisage Arteta, Arteta, lifting the trophy?

We had the worst group last yr with Dortmund and Napoli. It can't really get worse than that in terms of difficulty.

Athletic came 4th in La Liga with 70 points. To put that into context. Atlético got 77 points the previous season before winning the league this year. They are no mugs. They also knocked out Napoli who got the same amount of points as you.

Roma came 2nd in Serie A so were better than Napoli and way better than Marseille.

PSG and Dortmund there's not too much difference. Tough team to face.

Liverpool actually do something in the CL.

Arsenal have not done anything of note in the CL since 2006.
relieved about the victory today!

worried about wenger not signing a striker though, it's essential. he said after the game we have podolski, walcott, alexis and campbell who can play up front... NO THEY CANNOT!

Meh. You could have said the same about Jose Bosingwa lifting it in 2012 and it happened.

Competition with the best teams.
Entertainment for fans.
Massive financial gains for the club.
Pulling factor for potential signings.
Promoting our sponsors.

To name a few.

Your post has to be a wind up though as anyone who would genuinely have had to ask that question is a moron.
Why do we have to get a fellow premier league club? This actually isn't fair, look at the chicken fixtures other teams got:

Not as captain though.

As an aside, isn't Fabregas playing the same position for Chelsea as Arteta is for Arsenal? Why didn't Wenger sign him. I'm sure it would have been nice to have someone in that position who can pass forwards.
Knowing our luck we'll draw PSG, Bilbao and Roma...

2009...

Not our fault Ronaldo went on one against us, we still made the semi's though.

Liverpool fluked their way through though...

He wasn't captain though. No team whose captain is Arteta could dream of winning the UCL.

Fabregas is not a holding midfielder, Arteta is.

I don't think Arsenal have a good record when facing a pot 1 side in the knockout stages if I'm not mistaken.

Neither are but arteta plays that position for us

Arteta should be compared to matic and Ramsey to fabregas

I guess so, but it is still such a bunch of bull that we landed the Saints.

You always get drawn at home in cup games. You've had very nice recent cup fixtures tbh. Whilst your FA Cup ones had 3 difficult games they were all home games you were favourites to win. You've had quite favourable draws arguably, and Southampton home is no different. Swansea away is a lot more difficult, as is any away game.
