English is less of a waste of time for economics than french is for natsci

Science is an international field :fuhrer:

Plus, if I wanna do some work with French pharma it would be pretty damn handy

I've got an econ offer and am doing french a-level and I can tell you there's nothing more exciting than the french economy:tongue:

One thing I am missing is an essay subject - might be a bit of a jump between gcse and uni essay writing:colondollar: -probably a good idea to do english

I can tell you there is one million things more interesting than that socialist mess... unless you're being sarcastic of course

Haha - it's alright I guess .

I wish I'd taken history because I was good enough at it at GCSE and it would have helped with econ essay writing(I wasn't that good at English but still enjoyed it )

I hope so - being surrounded by so many intelligent people, students and supervisors, will help loads I imagine

I know it will improve as I read something on Kings' website that said a girl handed an essay in for her first supervision and got it handed back covered in red ink. I'm sure we will get the message!

We will do economic history modules at Cambridge so that history component will still be there. I love history but I wouldn't want to do it for an A Level. They teach you how to become a historian which really takes away from the learning process. You could be very knowledgable in an area of history but if you don't write about it they way they want to you wont do very well.

I did GCSE history too! The only reason why I did well was due to the fact that I love the game Red Dead Redemption and so it rekindled my interest in the American West module haha

I've read that too- there is hope after all!

Yeah I'm looking forward to that module for sure, in fact I think I'm looking forward to it all(provided I achieve the offer conditions). I guess there's a difference between being interested and doing the exams, probably for a lot of subjects.

Yeah GCSE history. Video Games and history are an awesome combination - that's why I love the Assassins creed games, although we never studied the covered periods in school. We did the inter-war period which others said was boring but I found it really interesting with all the economics and politics involved

Ahhhhh don't get me started, AC is my favourite franchise of all time. I get all nostalgic when thinking of the italian ACs.

I am working like mad at the moment, my offer is A*AA with the A* in anything but I can't relax on that. What was your offer btw? and what college?

Really want to just skip the latter half of this school year and start uni now.

Agreed on AC series

Serious work is starting this week for me. My offer's A*AA too from Selwyn - what college is your offer from? Good luck in achieving it

Yeah it feels like a huge amount of time from now to beginning uni! Just got to get those grades in the exams now.

Is your A* in any subject?

I've got an offer from Emmanuel

I normally do my revision in blocks, I've finished my A2 Economics as well as C3 and C4. Need to focus on english really. I think I will just try and go for 3 A*s and hope I get one!

I have like 20 weeks to do 120 Economics essays in practise. Maybe doable haha

Pretty sure it is :colone:

AC... I bought Unity, haven't even played it :frown: I've not played in over a month

It's been on standby for that long on accident lol

Yeah in any subject but maths. Emmanuel looks awesome so well done!

I know I need to get started on some serious revision. I'm trying for all A*s too, in the hope that I get one!

What's your exam board? I do AQA econ and last I did all the past paper questions, so I probably will have to do a similar amount of econ essays. Doable depends on your essay writing speed - but I'm sure your english essays are harder and longer than the econ essays so you'll be able to do it.

That's literally 6 a week wtf

How long are said essays

2-3 pages for me- take about 40 mins each so not awful. 120 essays sounds like a lot, but hopefully it will be worth it, especially if you enjoy the essays

Has anyone from Mgadalene's UCAS track been updated yet? Anyone who applied to study engineering perhaps?

Yeah it updated on the 12th for NatSci
Can you change to Computer Science with Mathematics after getting accepted if you applied for Computer Science with Natural Sciences?
[QUOTE=programmer
Maybe. But compsci with maths and that do step. Email and ask is my feeling.

Has anyone had any experience with writing and asking the college permission to not take some of the exams they had listed on the SAQ? I'm doing a Maths A level and had listed that on top of this I was going to do FP1 and FP2, but know, due to teaching problems (teacher is going to be absent for 7 weeks) and other things I'm doubting this decision.

These extra two modules don't form part of my offer. Would they be likely to allow me to not sit the exams?
