Sixth Form or College?
Can someone list the pros and cons of sixth form and college? I'm planning to take Biology, chemistry, english literature and sociology.
College seems so much fun? (the heterogeneous collection of students, more freedom/independence..etc.)
If I decide to go to college, I may become lazy and receive lower grades?
Sixth form seems more disciplined...I will be able to focus on my 4 A-levels, potentially working on the best grades I can possibly achieve.
BUT IT'S SO BORING. My sixth form provides a limited amount of minuscule facilities + attending the agonizing nazi camp is utter torture!
Help?

I can only judge for 6th forms but I like it. Its really a personal thing whether you stay at 6th form or go to collage. If your planning to do A-levels either way you could try looking at the courses and see what the difference is? Or if either one does additional courses you might be interested in. If you already dislike your 6th form as much as you seem to from the off you aren't going to want to work so even if you do attend a 6th form it might be worth changing to a different one anyway, they are not all the same hope this helps Hey! I've been to sixth form and I am currently going to college. The first year of sixth form form was okay but the lack of freedom and strictness was not my cup of tea. I once got sent home for wearing the wrong colour jeans which is just unnecessary. There's a routine in sixth form and it really does force you to study. College is so different and it's really fun too. The environment is relaxed and you get days off (depending on your schedule). You can meet new people and join clubs and there are so much more opportunities. There are better facilities there too. Sixth form is really focused on higher education but college is more relaxed. I agree with the idea that you can get lazy because you have more freedom but there are so many facilities available for you to work. Another perk of college is that tutors are usually more specialist in their subject than teachers at your regular sixth form as they may teach more than one subject. I'd pick college over sixth form any day as the routine of it just works for me. You seem focused so I think you'd do well in both college and sixth form! Good luck though! Hope this helped
Personally I'm opting for a college just because I'd enjoy that freedom and independence which allows me to work hard - 6th form seems to much like high school which is fairly ****ty tbh don't want. A repeat of 5 years for another 2 years it seems pointless
Having been to both sixth form and college (currently at college) I think sixth form is 'more strict' in that there is likely to be a uniform, and the teachers will still get you to write down your homework in an academic planner (at least they did for us, but that was also lower school policy so it may have been habit but it was patronising as hell every time) etc. The teachers don't really change from GCSE. Whereas college encourages you to become self disciplined - at least that's how I've found it. I'm far more organised and independent than I was last year, and I think that is down to the college environment. I'm far less stressed and (most of the time!) enjoy college - which I cannot say about sixth form. And you are also correct in saying the facilities are far better at colleges.
If you're organised and dedicated I see no reason for you to become lazy/ achieve lower grades at college, and you don't want to decide on sixth form because you think you'll get better grades and spend those years thinking 'what if'. But it is entirely down to the individual, everyone will have different experiences. Good luck in whatever you choose

I chose sixth form over college and I'm so glad I did as I am currently really enjoying it. This is because my school's sixth form is pretty good though so if you feel your school has limited facilities maybe you could apply to another sixth form rather than college? It really depends on you though - if I had gone to college personally, I feel my grades may have deteriorated a little bit. Also, keep in mind that it's probably easier to stay at your current school if you're happy there than having to settle in at a new place.
