Feel awkward when people ask if i have a gf...?

Basically, life is really busy at the moment and I don't really have time to socialise but recently quite a few people have asked if I have a gf and when i say no it just feels really awkward...

...don't get me wrong, I'd love to have one but I'm not someone who will dive into a relationship for the sake of it. I want time to enjoy the benefits of being in one and if work means time is hard to find for myself, let alone a relationship, I can't justify one tbh.

I don't know why I feel this way

If you were actually comfortable with not having a girlfriend, you wouldn't feel awkward telling anyone that.

Just say:

"No, I have really high standards"

Not really, I honestly don't have the time. Working 8.30-6 and then having to fit in studying on top of that.

It's more that society expects people to be in relationships, being single is wrong.

It's like there's something wrong with you to be single
