Evidence documents

Hello,
when applying to student finance do you just send your original passport (which seems really stupid for me) or do you scan it? In the forum everyone just does it differently so would they accept the scan?
Hello

If your a UK Passport holder, then they are often able, with your consent, to confirm your passport details electronically.

If not, yes Please do not send your ID if you are due to travel within the next 6 weeks.

Note: Your passport must be valid on the date they receive they get your application.
SFE would never accept a scan or e-mailed copy of any passport or ID documentation.

I would suggest your ID via recorded or special delivery
what darlo said in post 2 , but not 3., theres a place to give themn your passport # on the online form.
this suggests theres a seprate form in which you can submit passport details. by post, as the number is sufficient for online, then i cnat see why a copu with those details on wouldnt be acceptable. It may need to be certificed , but check with them. i would be reluctatnt to risk my passport in the post unless absolutely neccessary.

what darlo said was useful just send them the number online and thats enough. that link was handy becayse it explains other apsects.

If you are ever unsure, then always contact the people concerned to confirm. Losing your passport could be a real pain so always best to check.

In the link it is said that the code can be provided if the person is from UK, since im not from UK then the birth certificate is enough but i still have to send it with a signature confirming my identity?

This is the government site. Its official. It says for an EU student you have to send your passport or identity card.

Ok ive found the answer. You cna send your national identity card as an alternative.

or you can send a cerified copy
What evidence do I need to send?If you’re applying for the first time you’ll need to send evidence of your identity. You can send your valid passport or national identity card.
When you send evidence it can be certified copies or original documents. A certified copy is a photocopy of an original document which has been stamped, signed and dated to confirm it’s a true copy of the original by a person of good standing in the community such as a minister of religion, doctor, lawyer, civil servant, teacher/lecturer or police officer. The person certifying the copy must not be a relative and must provide their name, job title, address and contact number.

If you know any of those people then they can certify it for you. some might require a fee or if its a fmaily friend they might do it for free.

this answers your question as the certification makes them a more respected form of document.

thank you very much! and to certify the copy you should use certifier checklist, would the 2014/2015 form work because there is no indication of the year?

Yes I noticed that, sure it will be fine as its generic. Thats the only form avaulable so use it. If you are worried check with them but i'd just use it.
