I haven't quite gone that far, as what I tend to do it try and get around 5 hours sleep minimum and then wake up extra early to do some more then - harder if it's a morning exam but quite nifty for an afternoon one.

(I'm also so tired that I laughed at the word 'nifty' oh my)

Lmao. I laughed at the word nifty too.

20 pages that's insane!! Was it handwritten too?

And I know how stupid it is (our school is very dysfunctional) but I still get shocked when other schools actually stick to the rules for things like coursework as ours never have. In geography for example you're not supposed to save it into your own drive as its technically not allowed to leave school premises but 90% of us did it both at home and pretty much doubled the word limit. Same for science (minus the home, we had to do it at school but were allowed as much time as we needed).

Yes. It was hand written. Our school is quite strict but they were very lenient with science. We were allowed to do it at home.

You don't know what happened at school. The fire alarm went on during our English exam and we had half hour left till the end of the exam- everyone went out but we were outside for 30 mins and everyone started to talk so we couldn't go back and finish it off. Guess everything happens for a reason  It was a good paper though and the examiners are to be linient. So that's great  Hoping for that A/B
Just wanted to share this

Wow. So you guys only had 45 minutes of the exam ?

Will you get any form of special consideration for it? I'd hate it if that happened to me! :s-smilie:
At least you're happy with what you did

Wow that's so impressive!! Well done  I guess every school's different then.
You're all talking about writing 14 pages and then there's me writing 5 pages and still thinking it was good :/ My writing is very small though, like 10 words per line. And I get only 1.5h for two essays. Just hoping I can get the A* since I love literature!(I'm heartbroken as next year I had to make sacrifices since I can only choose 6 subjects and I can't take pure Literature, but much rather Language&Lit together *sigh*).

Thanks. I hope I do. I usually do better in my calc papers so I guess if I work hard during these 11 days then I might even get an A*. That would be a miracle though because I don't really like maths.

I might reveal a couple of poems to you guys but I fear that it may reveal too much. I am MR.ANONYMOUS 786 after all.

Anything is possible!! Go for it

And you don't have to, remain anonymous if you wish  Although it may be good for you to share them

Additional Mathematics. It's not that I don't enjoy it or something, but I do feel like it's kind of getting ahead of me and won't allow me to get into Oxbridge. I'm aiming for an A since it's a two year course I had to do in 7 months, partially self-taught. Have both of my exams next week and I have to say it gets pretty annoying when everyone else has already finished their exams and I sit at home revising because I want to be as good as possible (in fact, I'm always 3/4% away from the A* boundary - that's soooo frustrating!!). Then again, I am giving myself credit since I really went from almost a C (really low B at first) to a really high A

Another question. Do you think calling the Shakespearian lower-class people "plebs" is somewhat offensive? I do not know whether I should worry about that or not.

Wow self taught and in a short time - very respectable. and to go from Bs to almost A*s is amazing - there's no reason why you can't achieve it. I wish you every success with it and if it's any consolation, I have 3 and a half weeks before my exams are over

Something weird happened at our school too - today was the sixth form's last day and they trashed the hallways and classrooms by turning chairs upside down and throwing toilet paper everywhere for their annual school prank!! It was so funny  However, one of them set the fire alarm off (by accident, when they were moving something I think) ten minutes before our exam! I didn't really mind though because the exam went well, plus that might be me having fun in a couple of years  I'm glad you think your paper went well!

In my school we literally had a 45 minute exam - we do Cambridge iGCSE English so we had to do one question on a passage from a studied drama. It was so weird doing such a short exam :/
Have you guys heard about the bomb scare across the country ? It's been happening a lot especially in schools e.g mine and it's disrupting Gcse's and A-levels.

Really hope so. Though not many people wrote more than 5 or 6 in my class anyway.

School bits:
Hi Everyone,

I'm in year 11 so I will be sitting my GCSEs on the 18th May (eek). I also had mocks on the 22nd Feb so keeping this thread made sure I kept up with my revision. At the moment my targets and grades are:

(WJEC) English Language: A*
(WJEC) English Literature: A*
(Edexcel) Maths: A*
(OCR Gateway B) Biology: A*
(OCR Gateway B) Chemistry: A*
(OCR Gateway B) Physics: A*
(AQA) German: A*
(OCR Modern) History: A*
(AQA) Geography: A*
(OCR National) ICT: A*

Some of you may look at this and wonder how I can improve, but I set really high standards and in some of my mocks I have been getting 84/85 and scores like that, so I am working towards getting as high a mark as possible, and not just securing the grade.

Hopefully, if I can get the grades, I want to go on to college and study Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Geology.

Personal bits:
If you want a bit of background I've always been quite good academically (though I genuinely hate to admit it) but I believe it is down to the fact that I have severe Atopic Eczema (that the specialist said was the worst in 30 years) and because of this, I have found studying to be a worthy distraction. I also can't see out of one eye which makes life interesting but I like it that way. If I can work hard enough, and get into University, I will be the first person in my family to do so, and considering my parents have barely any qualifications, this is definitely something I aspire to.

A few last words:
I am open to any advice or constructive criticism and I am happy to help anyone too.

If you want to find out more about me as a person I would be happy to post info and along the way, I will be detailing revision I have done, so if you would like to see pictures of it just let me know and I'll be happy to upload

Also, recently, people have asked if they can post their revision on here too so it can help motivate everyone and we can help each other along - feel free to join in

Mocks (22nd Feb)
Here's the posts I made about the mocks I have just taken

Well done on Maths that's a fab score!

Glad you liked English Lit too - you will have aced it. There's nothing wrong with liking poetry and it's great you like to write them yourself. It's up to you to show them to people and don't worry if you don't want to, it's your choice
