My view that our economic success or failure was not defined by our EU membership was further affirmed by the treasury, IMF ect.. during the campaign who's own research showed that long run growth is forecast to be little affected.

Are you kidding?

Treasury: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/524967/hm_treasury_analysis_the_immediate_economic_impact_of_leaving_the_eu_web.pdf - "The central conclusion of the analysis is that the effect of this profound shock would be to push the UK into recession and lead to a sharp rise in unemployment."

https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/517415/treasury_analysis_economic_impact_of_eu_membership_web.pdf - Let me know what you find reassuring in there, won't you.

IMF

Nope, nothing positive there either.

Oh, bore off. I know you guys hate experts but try to listen: https://news.liverpool.ac.uk/2016/06/16/watch-dishonesty-industrial-scale-eu-law-expert-analyses-referendum-debate/

I do not regret my vote.

Colour me surprised. I wonder if you'll regret it when close family and friends become unemployed? Probably not. It'll be due to something else, no doubt...

The recession alluded to there was a 1.5% contraction across 2016-2018. That would be the second shallowest recession on record.

Their own worst case scenario forecasts growth to only be 0.3% lower it would otherwise have been each year from 2018-2030.

You allowed media hyperbole to cloud your assessment.

Even on unemployment their forecast was for net unemployment to only rise 300,000 across two years.

Your logic is appalling.

There is a difference between controlling immigration and limiting immigration...

Of course. And both are xenophobic.

Your lack of humanism is appalling.

Someone who wants to control the amount of people that come into the country is xenophobic?

Is this seriously the logic here...

Obviously. You don't hear cries to deport people, merely cries to reduce the number of immigrants. The difference? They are foreign.

I give up arguing with people who cannot understand the difference between controlling and limiting immigration. You can go and continue arguing with people and yourself, it's actually quite entertaining.

There are people who do want to reduce the number of immigrants - I wasn't ignoring that. I was arguing with this special gentleman because he associates controlling immigration with limiting immigration. The two are quite different and the former is definitely not xenophobic...
I voted leave as well as the EU open border policy ****s up everything

Bitter much about the many times I destroyed your nationalistic, populist, economically ignorant ********?

Bugs me that imbeciles like you will get to profit from the new cap on roaming charges which the EU just pushed through, saving Europeans tens of millions a year. The EU really is nothing but an out-of-control bureaucratic monster hurting its citizens!

Just risible, reductive cliches as usual. No change there.

Looking forward to the French election?

... which had you witless nationalists comprehensively beat every time. No change indeed.

I am, very much so, and the Dutch and German ones too. Your country and the US spectacularly going up in flames and down the drain after a move to the right will work a treat.

Let's say article 50 gets voted in who here will be glad who voted remain or leave and who regrets voting the way they did?

I Couldn't vote but I managed to sway my mam, dad and brother to Vote Remain. Although the Rest of the UK chose leave I fell Article 50 should be triggered ASAP. Why wait to do something once its decided?
Hope This Helps!
I wasn't able to vote (too young). But I would have voted remain.

The economic risk is too high, but I'm not bothered about the outcome. I don't expect anything too serious to come out of all this.
Just ordered my EHIC cause I'm going travelling in the summer. Anyone know if this'll be kept or scrapped when we leave the EU? (I voted remain)

Depends on negotiations. Assume not, since the political rhetoric is "bluddy foriners usin are nhs", and therefore reciprocity won't be there.

I couldn't vote but I influenced my parents to leave, I simply hate the open border policy.

Do you mean the schengen zone that we aren't part of or the free movement of workers that any country can place restrictions on?

In the original vote I voted to stay...

It is still a stinging wound I have...

Not least as I lost a (good) few £'s on a bet... :frown:
