Transfer from England to Scotland?

Is it possible?
I'm in the 2nd term of my first year of uni, the University I'm at is amazing, the teaching is great, as is the campus, and I have already made many great friends, however, I am finding it very hard to be so far away from home, and would like to transfer to a university closer to home. (I also feel like being closer to family might help with a more personal problem too.)

Also, if it is possible, would I need to start in first year again, due to the structure of firs years in Scottish unis? It just would be a shame to think that I'd have wasted a year of my life, and it would be strange to be at a different stage to all my friends at home.
