Law conversion course / Postgrad law?

Just curious to know how it all works.

Do you have to take a 1 year law conversion course to apply for postgrad law courses (not having done Law at undergrad)?

How do law conversion courses work, do you apply for them too? Just sign up? Do universities offer these courses within them or do you have to apply elsewhere?

What do you mean by law conversion courses?

If it is just an LLM then you should check with the Uni as to what their entrance requirements are and whether they include any legal qualifications.

If you mean conversion course to become a solicitor, then that is the 1 year GDL (1year) , which is to be replaced by the SQE in 2020.

Yes, I think it's the GDL. Can anyone with an undergraduate degree get in?

Once you've obtained the GDL, are you able to apply to most LLM courses or do they require an undergrad law degree (forcing you to do an accelerated 2 year law course?)

Did you just look as I suggested? They are all different. In some circumstance the GDL might help, in some it inst needed and in others it will be insufficient.

I did have a look at a few, I'll look around for more information. Would you say it would be better to do an accelerated Law course at Oxford (or any other university doesn't have to be that one) or take the GDL for a year and then apply for an LLM?

Obviously just exploring my options at the moment since this would be in a few years but it would be to specialise in either corporate/criminal law (don't know which one yet) and then eventually practice law.
