AQA History A-Level New Specification 2017

Hi guys,
I'm new here and I'm not sure if I've put this in the right place, but I've been looking everywhere for a discussion/thread for the new AQA spec and haven't really found any. I was just wondering if anyone has any advice when it comes to studying for the exams, particularly with topics 1C "The Tudors: England 1485-1603" and 2Q "The American Dream: Reality and Illusion 1945-1980".
Thanks

I'm struggling too, would love to help but I'm doing Russian Absolutism and Enlightenment 1682-1796 and Britain 1906-1957

Hi! I'm doing my second year of the AQA A-Level spec, I'm doing the Tudors as well! What I'm finding really helpful now that I'm nearing the end of the course is to really try and make links between the Tudor monarchs. The wider picture helps to understand everything a whole lot better, you could make flashcards to remember the dates of important events.

Print out a copy of the specification and try to rewrite your notes as part of your revision to make things short and concise. Note down a few statistical figures or examples that you can use to help support your arguments - they will push your marks further up the grade boundaries. I hope you'll find this useful, feel free to ask me about stuff!!
You can also look at the various revision guides published by Hodder - search My Revision Notes. They are packed with lots of exam questions. I always tell students to divide their revision time between content (writing up notes etc.) and skills. Practice doing exam questions in timed conditions. Look for model answers, examination reports etc. Also, try and anticipate questions and create plans for them. Revision is no good if you can't deliver in exam conditions! Good luck.

I'm in my first year and im doing Tudors(1485-1603) and the Cold War(1945-91). I got my mocks in 3 weeks but have no idea how to revise for them. any help? I got a3 paper and was thinking of making mindmaps of whole topics e.g vietman. do you have any ideas what i should do

thanks
I just finished my Stuart Britain paper, which went alright I think. But now I've got the French Revolution to do, which I've found a lot harder because my teacher has been much more confusing in her teaching style. Has anyone got any useful resources for it? And also has anyone got any structural tips?
Many thanks

How did you find the Stuart paper and which questions did you do? I thought the source question was quite difficult as they were both kinda saying the same thing so I only wrote 2 arguments down for the second source and three for the first one. Then I did the question on James' view of the monarchy which at the time I thought I did ok on, but now I'm wondering if I argued my points in enough detail. What about you?
Anyone doing Stuart Britain and the Crisis of the Monarchy 1603-1702 and Democracy and Nazi Germany 1918-45 for A2?

I'm doing the Nazis but also Britain 1851-1964
Is there anyone else doing the Tudors? In comparison to the Russia course, I find it really hard to understand the Tudors. It would be amazing if you guys could share some example essays!

Hi

I thought the Source question was hard too. I just went through the interpretations and explained what their meaning was. The only argument I made was in Source B opening sentence.
I'm not sure how else I could have answered this question!
For my conclusion, I just said that Source A was a specialist writer, Source A flowed better and there were errors in Source B's argument.
I gave an explanation of events rather than argue anything because the writer of Source A was correct so I effectively corroborated what he said. What do you think?
I'm doing exactly the same - 1C Tudors and 2Q American Dream! I just have no clue how to revise for Tudors and the exam is in a week......
