The Picture of Dorian Gray

So I want to do English Lit at uni and I've decided to do my EPQ on this book.

I can't think of a good title or question, any suggestions?

I always suggest people do at least preliminary research first before deciding on their title, so they can see how they might develop the idea and there is enough information there. If you are doing it on a single book, then that is specialist in itself and you should consult with your teacher on whether its too narrow or your way of investigation is appropriate.

You have to write 5000 words so that is going to involve a lo of depth.

My concern is you may not have enough depth, analysis and evaluation.
Do some research and explore the idea first before fixing on it properly as you could find yourself running out of steam.

Something about Dorian's homosexuality in the original version vs the edited?

I'm studying it for A level and there's so much to write about, you chose a good book. Tbh I don't know how to form an EPQ question, but you could talk about:

1) homosexuality (or just immorality as a whole). You can link it to the Decadent movement of the fin-de-siècle period, as well as Wilde's homosexuality.
2) Influence and corruption.
3) The concept of beauty, appearance vs reality, & link it to aetheticism.
4) The clash between science and religion

If you ever need any more help just ask. It's one of my favourite novels.

No problem! I can recommend The British Library articles (I, II, III). The website has plenty of other resources for finding out the context of the time period. Also here's one by Joseph Carroll about aestheticism, homoeroticism, and Christian guilt.
