What is your budget for the laptop?

And are you only writing essays or is there anything else you're doing that might be intensive.

One with a keyboard 🤔

Tbh if you’re only going to run simple applications like Word and internet browsers (no Excel or any specialised applications) you can probably happily go for a very basic and reasonably priced model. Perhaps you need to consider size and keyboard layout, however. What are you used to? Do you prefer something flatter or with a more pronounced click? Do you need a number pad on the right hand side? Will you want to take the laptop to lectures, in which case can you put up with more of a notebook size to aid portability? What kind of battery life do you need; are you likely to move around with it a lot or be sat at home/in a library where you can plug it in? What weight are you willing to carry?
I would go for HP laptops since they are good for their bargain than most laptops (like MacBook which are to complicated for me and costs way too much for its specs). Avoid Asus brand laptops since they tend to breakdown or deteriorate with 6 months of regular usage. Try to go for laptops with long battery life too since plug sockets are scarce in some lecture theatres

I want one that I can carry to lectures/ the library, but I want a full size laptop as that would be my main resource for notes and essays.

Geography, preferably less than £1000, lightweight but strong

What are the full spec sheets of the two you've already found?
