Can't go to NCS for a stupid reason

NCS is somewhere I badly want to go to mainly to relax from all the stress GCSEs have given/will give me and it's going to be a very long summer. Not to mention it's gonna look great on my CV but my dad has dismissed all this for a stupid reason.
He told me the only way I could go is if there are no boys AT ALL...how stupid. Kick all the boys out of the programme for my sake? How dumb. It makes me annoyed and pissed to know the only thing that is stopping me from going are 'boys'. If someone asks me 'hey why didn't you go NCS?' And then my response is: 'oh...because there were guys there.' All these missed oppurtnities because of my dad's ignorant thoughts. This is stupid, absurd, crazy really. I just want to have fun there. End of rant.

But what do you think, is he in any way right?
um when i did ncs we were in a mixed group 5boys,5girls, everyone is shy at first but the whole experience is really good at making people open up, socialise and in general its a good way to get gcse results day off ur mind. don't worry about boys; the dumb ones will get a red card and kicked off the programme, go to it trust me its a rly good way to kill time and make new friends

what is ur dad's issue with boys?
NCS is a great experience. Best thing I've done even. When I did it, there were mixed groups.
yes there were some boys who weren't very mature and may be a little reckless but it's more or less on you whether or not if you think it's a good idea. If you think you have enough self control to ignore bad behaviour from boys or to just say no and stay as friends go for it.
I really think NCS is great to do. You meet loads of people and it's a little like a family. if your dad is really giving you a hard time about it and you really want to go, stand your ground, don't be shy. You're pretty much an adult and he can't control you forever. Hope that helps.

Thank you, but maybe I didn't make the message clear enough because I couldn't care less about them, it's my dad who has a big problem regarding them.

Honestly I wish I knew, he just hates me being around them (even though I go to a mixed school that's weird). I just don't know how to convince him into letting me go.

Well that's a challenge. No other parent or siblings to back you up. It'd be nice if you knew exactly why he didn't like you around them so you could have something to debunk. He's probably just sad you're growing up.

explain to your dad in a way he can understand eg NCS = 3 phases, it's regarded by universities thus you can write it in your personal statement, around some point in phase 3, you go and volunteer = more stuff to write in your personal statement, u develop perseverance, resillience by taking on the activities in phase 1 <- you surround urself in a different environment=more personal statement stuff
phase 2 is normally based at a university accomodation = real life experience of uni places/living with students

idk but if i could persuade my strict asian parents to let me go then so can u :P

I am pretty sure there is an all girls one as well on a specific date. u may not be able to go on the mixed one. i kinda understand cuz i had a friend who went to a mixed one and there were a couple of people who hooked up etc. You may not be able to go on the mixed one but if n ur dad compromise u may be able to go to the all girls one and not miss this opportunity. if there still is an all girls that is.
I'll look into it, thanks.
