It's not the violent content of the video games as such. Everyone (mostly) knows it is wrong to steel a car and then proceed to shoot a load of people. It's the culture surrounding the games that is the problem. It tends to get wound up in right wing anti-sjw stuff eg anger at feminism ruining their games. There is an overlap in the venn diagram between that and proper fascist views.

Contrapoints is a good YouTuber who takes on this kind of stuff.

He has rly bad anger issues and will beat up people, he doesn't care who

The subscribe to pewdiepie thing is also a meme

It is largely out of pewdiepies control that this stuff happens. Like how that frog became a fascist meme. The creator of the original frog had nothing to do with that happening. Although PewdiePie does not seem to take seriously how influential he is and is generally thoughtless about it all.

People on this site have a worrying obsession with Facism.

Do you actually know what Fascism is?

Then that's the fault of your parents for allowing a child onto a game he's far young for at 12, let alone 8.

Video game culture does have a lot of crossovers with incels, and other down and outers, but it's a minority. Video game culture doesn't itself cause incidents like this. Radicalisation does.

What sort of BS media do you read? If you think Pewdiepie knowingly promoted a Nazi channel, you're an actual mug.

'BS media'. Uhuh.

What media do you consider non-BS?

Video game culture has some overlap with incel culture, granted. The response to GamerGate proves that. But there's no need to go on a relentless rampage on video game culture as a whole because of a minority. Violent games weren't to blame for a fascist knobhead deciding to go to a mosque and shoot up innocent people. He was after being another Breivik.

TheVerge and Vox both renowned for being markedly anti-Youtube and taking any dig at a Youtuber than can because of their own failings as a platform and fear that sites like theirs are becoming irrelevant.

Irrelevant. If anything, PewDiePie is insipid and innocuous; he is certainly not provocative or extremist. If people take the output of a popular figure a certain way, it does not indite that popular figure. Charles Manson based what he did on the song Helter Skelter by The Beatles. Are they to blame? Obviously not. Please don't utilize this tragedy to support an unsubstantiated, absurd agenda.

I know all about Pewdiepie, I watch his videos from time to time. By pure coincidence I watch the video in question when it was posted.

He didn't know there was anti-semitic content on the channel, case closed.

I can imagine you are the kind of person who reads these online articles about this from companies such as The Verge which love to criticise Youtubers and drum up false outrage because they are afraid that their platform is dying and being overtaken by YT.

You called it
Tbf Helter Skelter is an absolute tune.

I'm a part of video game culture and I like video games. I would say there is more than some overlap between gameing and incels. I know from personal experience that gaming if often a way to retreat from a world that is cruel.

The point I am making is that the more extreme minority overlaps with and is enabled by a more moderate mainstream. With regards to Islamophobia the moderate mainstream is incredibly racist.

I consider it the first true "metal" song. Well before the term was coined. It rocks hard as f**k, that's to be sure.

Yes.

The manifesto which this guy published is an example. A lot of the guys positions line up with Duginism. He is an ethno-nationalist who claims to be an anti-imperialist eco-fascist, joining left and right in a populist movement.

Sounds pretty fash to me.

Bit far-fetched - has more than 89 million subscribers, you cant pile the blame on top of these creators nor blame an industry, for the actions of a few vile people

I've been playing since I was 7, my first game being god of war chains of Olympus on PSP (great game to this day very much recommended). It had nudity on a level which could be classed as porn and more blood than you can think of. I played this when I was 7....right now at my age of 17, I'm basically a pacifist and always have a smile on my face. Your brother may have anger problems that aren't related to video games but him going through puberty.
