Edexcel M3 15th May Post- Exam (UK Spec)

Sorry to hear that :/ Here are some answers I got:


2. distance from surface of earth = 9R/11
3. speed when string slack = 4.2, distance when at rest 1.7m (if I vaguely remember)
5. COM = 2, 56 degrees for the angle and 1.89 for K (pretty sure I’m wrong about these)
6. V = (3gr/4)^1/2 for the vertical circle question
7. K = 1/3 for the last SHM question

I don’t even remember them but I did get at 1/3 for 7.

1.This was another calculate k question i think
2.Earth distance 20R/11

5.Angle is Defo 72 degrees, k I forgot

7. It is 1/3, I wrote 1/6 forgot that the ball travels in the -0.4 -> 0.4 area twice.

For q2, I think you forgot to subtract the radius of the earth. The question asked for the distance from the surface not the centre, as i got 20/11 then subtracted R to get 9/11.

Q4 was the horizontal circular motion with a string and reaction force

First question H was 9/8, i dont know how i got 9, probably coz i didnt sleep at all the night of the exam

And question 4 asked you to prove that it was 2pi*root(3a/2g)

So thats -4 marks for Q1, -3 for Q7, -1 for Q2, -8 marks total 67/75, bye bye A* potentially even A

Me too, potentially lost 7 marks because I screwed up Q5 b and c :/ really hoping that the grade boundaries will be generous (doubt it though)

I cant remember much but I remember my value of W being (50)^1/2 and my amplitude being 0.8m

I got those values too, that’s a relief at least

I got all same as you,

apart from Q1, but I got that one wrong stupid arithmetic mistake,Q2 i forgot to take away earth radius. How many marks was Q1 worth????
