Can you drink the tap water from your en suite bathroom tap?

I live in halls and i have an ensuite and I’m too lazy to go to the kitchen. My mum says you shouldn’t drink the tap water from a bathroom but like why not?? Is it not cleaned the same as kitchen water??? Ha

this is so funny cos this is actually me too although I would never drink from my bathroom sink. I always think if I had my own kitchen I would never leave my room lol.
What I do is fill up my glass when no one is around then just drink from that. That or just drink my juice cartoons. Or just buy bottled water as above said

I wouldn't advise it. You could get a big flask or a water filter jug and fill it up when you are in the kitchen, leave it in your room when you are ready to drink water.

I don’t see why it would be a problem. I used to drink my bathroom tap water when I was young without an issue. The only thing that concerns me now if the quality of tap water in general so all the water I drink and cook with is put through my distiller first.

Sometimes bathroom water is supplied from a storage tank onsite in which case it is dangerous but more often than not it is connected to the same mains pipe that the drinking water is connected to, so it's fine. I'd check with your uni first tho just to be safe.

Though I do remember something about the bathroom water at coming from a tank rather straight from mains so actually not so mad!But why not walk into kitchen?

I know that that's why hot and cold taps are separate in older plumbing, but I think the point of having them separate was to keep the cold water potable

Aye, spot on, right enough! I suppose the easy way to tell is to turn your stopcock off and try to run the bathroom water. no water = no header tank

I mean sure if you want to but you cant avoid the kitchen forever (trust me i have tried). Going down to make a cup of tea or to get a drink of water is a good excuse to have a purpose to go into the kitchen rather than awkwardly standing around trying to socialise with your housemates. That's how i have struck up convos with my housemates anyway
