Let's give a big thank you to Gina Miller

For reminding us about our own Parliamentary democracy and the values we supposedly live by.

One heck of a British woman and Guyanan black lady.

A big thank you to Gina Miller, who has persisted against repeated threats of violence, slurs and abuse from the right wing media, lies and slander and against all odds, has twice won significant victories in law against a corrupt and devious fanatic Brexit machine that would prefer to have no scrutiny and no Parliament.

one group is violating the will of parliament

another group is violating the will of the British public

you can't both be right
At the end of the day, history will remember people like Miller far more kindly than people like Johnson.

Yes, that's very clear - Johnson is like Trump, just a tool of a particular section of the global financial plutocracy. Gina Miller is like a heroic freedom fighter.
Indeed!! Bravo Gina~ !

In fairness, how many politicians are ever remembered kindly?
Miller must be loaded with cash to pay for Lord Pannick...

Without Miller, there’s a chance we’d be out the EU by now. That’s why she isn’t too popular,

Totally agree with this and regardless of everyone's views on Brexit, nobody should think that they're above the law. Given that the Supreme Court judges unanimously ruled that the prorogation of parliament was unlawful, Boris Johnson must resign immediately as Prime Minister for causing a constitutional crisis whereby he misled the Queen to suspend parliament to avoid parliamentary scrutiny of his unscrupulous government.

She was one of 79 people and organisations involved in the case. I don't know for certain, but I imagine some of the legal work was pro-bono as well. She is rich, but I doubt that she funded these actions in their entirety.
Absolutely unbelievable, are you actually happy with Americanisation of our political system without the political constitutions in place to regulate the courts.

The legal profession has been trying to get their teeth into poltics for a while. Gina Miller may of made it easier but thanking her really?

You just wait till brexit is over, and the can of worms spread out, we will see how happy you are with Gina miller then

Blame Johnson for this, not Miller. He's the one who decided that politics no longer belongs in Parliament, it is his fault the judiciary had to get involved. If BoJo hadn't been so brazen with his anti-democratic behaviour these court cases would never have happened.

He's done nothing that's not been done in the past. Should other prorogations of undergone this type of scrutiny then many historic prorogations would have been overturned.

Dont kid yourself this is standard and without future implications. At least in America they have written constitutions to regulate the courts, we dont because upto Miller in 2017 there has been no need.
Ah yes, Gina miller, a super rich businesswoman who clearly has too much time and money on hands....

If there were any valid historical precedent for his actions they would've been brought up in the court cases.

Then we can be extraordinarily thankful we live in an era where the executive is held to better account than they were a few centuries ago.

We have a written constitution.

1.) The case was crowd funded. Miller did not pay.

2.) Pannick did not charge a fee, he did the case pro bono. The fees would have gone to Mishcon De Reya - the instructing solicitors.

Perhaps you should do a little bit of research before making such claims.

Well maybe you could explain why a minority labour goverment proroged in the 1930 if it were not to close down scrutiny over the general strike and its handling of it? Or why John Major did in the 90's?

Well let's see, its apprajt to me only hard core remainers seem to be happy about this. For a neutral decision.......

Not regarding the courts to the same depth as america we dont.

This is not a decision we should be happy with, its actually quite worrying. It opens doors and could spiral, I can see backfiring on Corbyn if he does win power, opening up to poltical morals is a exceptionally grey area the courts if the UK have been absent.

So should a Prime Minister be able to prorogue Parliament for any reason, for any amount of time, whenever they choose, with no restrictions at all?

Have you read the judgement of the Court?
