Indecisive af, and confused :/

I'm a student who just left year 13 and am going to uni in September of 2021, but I am very indecisive of my uni choices. I have applied to study Economics and Management at Loughborough Uni, but I don't know if it's for me. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Economics as a subject, but some elders told me Economics at A Level tends to be more enjoyable than at university, which most of his friends said to him. Now, I am confused and thinking to change my course and uni to Accounting and finance.

However, I can't change it to that at Loughborough since the courses are all full up. I've contacted multiple uni's around my AAB entry requirement level, but they're all full up. Second guessing myself and not sure if I am going to enjoy the degree, and feel like there's no choice. I feel accounting and finance now is more suitable to me and my goals and in terms of real life, because I doubt I'm going to be an Economist. Just gonna see where life takes me. Please help.
Have you looked at the module choices available for Economics v A&F at Loughborough? There might be more similarity than you think.

If you took a gap year to reapply next year do you have some thoughts on somethings you could do that would be fun and help you narrow down your choices?

There will be many A&F courses still available but they will be lower ranked universities than Loughborough. If you are not happy where you are reject it look urgently at courses that still have A&F courses available or reapply next year. Universities that I think may have places include Swansea and Aberystwyth but the only way to find out is to give them a ring and do it immediately. Wherever you go check the position regadring accommodation.

I have been very similar the last few weeks. Ended up ringing swansea uni and the guy I spoke to said that their courses can be very similar in the first year and there's no worries switching from Econ to Econ + Finance or Econ + Accounting after the first year if you like what you see in the other courses. My advice is to ring the uni's and speak to them.

I think the key issue at the moment is decisions need to be made urgently as accommodation is getting full in many places and this needs sorting and makes the matter very urgent. As far as Swansea is concerned they offered mainly the student village last year through clearing which is fine for courses on Singleton campus which is a 10 minute bus ride away but a bit of a problem if you are studying on the Bay campus which is 45 minutes bus ride each way. There are some new private halls which still had availability last night if preferred. These are in or around the city centre and are around a 15 minute bus ride away

Had a chat with them about this too as it goes, obviously places are going quick but the newer accomodation on Bay campus and some of the houses nearby still had places. I think as long as OP gets in touch with Aber and Swansea ASAP it should become clearer what to do.

There was someone on another thread who said there was no accommodation on the Bay Campus and had to travel so decided against Swansea. I checked earlier and Fusion Students opposite the rail station had rooms and it is about a 15 minute bus journey each way.
Yeah, there are accounting and finance modules but I think maybe specialising in it would be better for me. I heard A&F is boring, and I do prefer Economics, but A&F is more suitable to me going on to be a creative, self-employed individual if you get what I am saying.

Yeah, since I'd have more time to think about this. I feel like this is such a big decision and I can't rush it, hence I'm second guessing a lot! :/

I am happy with this university, but I feel like perhaps I would have been more satisfied if I chose a A&F course rather than Economics and Management. All uni's I've called so far are full up, and I don't want to travel too far to go university, so it's on me and my school teacher's for rushing me through the process.

Self employment means it doesn’t matter what degree you study. If that’s your goal then study a subject that you find interesting and get involved in extra curricular activities and opportunities to build up your knowledge and skills.

I don’t think I have ever heard anyone say they thought A&F would get them to a creative, self employed career.

If you prefer economics then study economics.

No, not the actual degree itself will get me to a creative, self-employed career, but rather it would help me in terms of arranging my own finances, filing tax reports and other shenanigans that come along with the entrepreneurial axis of it.

I appreciate the advice. I reckon I am going to study Economics, and just read outside of the degree on A&F. Thank you.
