I'm thinking of taking a car - yay or nay?!?!?

Definitely nay. I have caught the bus about 5 or 6 times since being at Sheffield, and thats been just cause its raining. No idea where you might park either. I know a few people with cars, and as far as I can tell, all they use it for is going fora big shop, but when delivery costs for Asda delivery to Endcliffe is £2 its cheaper to do that than drive.

Not sure about second year, but again, parking at uni might be difficult/expensive.

Question:

How long would it take to get from Sheffield train station to Endcliffe/Ranmoor by foot/bus/tram?

Foot is about 45-55mins depending on how fast you walk and how much you're carrying.
Bus is about 10 - 20 mins depending on how long you're waiting for the bus and how much traffic there is (if it's rush hour it's always quicker to walk rather than get the 52, the 120 may be quicker)
Tram - I don't see the point. The closest it gets you is by the IC and by the time you wait for the tram and then sit on it till it gets to the IC you could have walked there. From there you still have to either walk up the hill or get the bus. + the tram is very expensive compared to the buses.

is the hill really that bad? Because I currently go to a sixth form on top of a massive hill with no bus route and its murder everyday!
What are exactly the differences between Endcliff, Ranmoor and the City Campus? Because the prices for an en-suite room are the same.

Endcliffe is the only place that doesn't hand en suite if you are looking to save some money. Other than that not much. Some people say Ranmoor is quieter than Endcliffe and others say it's not. City campus from what I've heard is really quiet with a lot of international students who don't socialise. (Sorry for the generalisation, just from the experiences of people I've spoken to)

Did you have students from Sheffield Hallam at your accommodation at well as UoS students?

Broad Lane doesn't do En-suite as well if people are looking for cheaper options.

Just a couple of questions:
Are there kettles in the Endcliffe accommodation or will I need to buy my own one?
Any idea on where to find some sort of more detailed programme of the Orientation Week? The thing is I'm an international student and I'll need to open UK bank account. I've already applied online but I have to finish the process in person. I need to make an appointment with the bank ASAP but I don't really know when.
How many passport photos would you recommend?
Where can I buy: UK sim card, UK plug adapters?

https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/polopoly_fs/1.727430!/file/BankInformationSheet2017.pdf - Where are you living next year? For city these will also be your closest banks - if you're living in Endcliffe / Ranmoor there are closer banks. Besides from this I'm not sure how I can help, sorry (I'm not an international student)
