Well wouldn't you want to look at all the areas of the emancipation acts and see who it impacted.

E.g Peasants and Nobles.

Peasants impacted as they got freedom in 1861, they were left with redemption dues of 49yrs, many were too poor to afford land, they had to be with a mir council.

Nobles were impacted because their profits fell because they now had to pay for labour, their debts increasing, reduction of their power due to Zemstvas/Dumas being created. They received compensation for the loss of workers which gave them money to pay off debts.

You might want to look at stuff like that and then judge on who the Emancipation affected the most? There might be other groups to consider also.

Have you got any idea on what i might write for my question? (The one above your post)

Thanks, and I hope i helped in some way

'Lenin was more successful in dealing with opposition than any other ruler of Russia in the period from 1855 to 1964'. How far do you agree with this view?

'The development of Russian government was influenced more by war than any other factor'. How far do you agree with this view of the period 1855 to 1964?

To what extent did Russian people lose more than they gained from economic and social changes during the period from 1855 to 1964?

Hello!

I've got my Russia exam on the 12th of June and I am seriously struggling. I have gone through the whole text book and done spider diagrams but none of it it sinking in, and my teacher won't mark any essays. I only need to get a C, but i'm really sturrling with planning essays and writing them in general!!!!!!!

Also, I don't really understand what they mean when they say analysis, synopsis and synthesis, could you please explain these?! xxxx
“How far was the role of individuals the most significant factor in explaining the changing influence of the Russian Communist Party 1945-2008?”? any help would be much appreciated- I'm totally stumped. :frown:

Im really stuck with this exact same question too, was just wondering if you've gotten anywhere with it? :frown:
I am writing two essays which I need help with both of them..

1) How significant was the work of the reforming leaders in changing the nature of Russian government and society in the period from 1856 - 1964?

I've already written about Alexander II, Alexander III and Nicholas II

I don't understand what happened after Nicholas was abdicated...

I need to talk about Lenin, Stalin, Kruschev

Kerensky maybe?

I NEED HELP!

2) What, in your view, was the short term impact of the Emancipation of the serfts 1857 -1861, on Russian government and society?

I need to include sources that are contempaorary and revelant secondary sources.

I can't find any sources from the serfs

I don't know how to write about historical background either.

I hope you can help me!

Thank you!

My question is: How significant was the work of reforming leaders in changing the nature of Russian government and society in the period from 1856-1964?

I'm trying to write about Lenin at the moment but honestly have no idea what key points to write about :/

Any help?

Oh my, I did these questions at A-Level  I can help you with the first question, but unfortunately I can't really remember what sources I used in the second one apart from there are scarce sources from the serfs because they're pretty much all, convinentely, illiterate - our teacher gave us loads of sources to use though in class, have you asked for some primary sources from them.

In the A-Level essays, I wouldn't bother explaining about the provisional government because they didn't bring in any significant reforms. So do not talk about Kerensky as you'll be wasting words and with that essay you need all the words you can get just focus on the question in hand. Bascially Lenin had a massive impact socially through the 'red terror' which was a componant of War Communism and talk about the Cheka whom were basically like the Okhrana. I put in my essay that Lenin destroyed the Imperial Russian identity by assasinating Romanovs therefore leaving a ideological vacuum.
Stalin write about purges, 5 year plans - and the emergence of the industrial economy which strengthened the gov. internationationally. also cult of personality might be worth mentionining.
Finally, Khrushchev's main reform was de-stalinization and can be linked to Alexander II as he inherited a state which was so ingrained with a certain way of life and an ideology that removing it could destabilise credibility of government. the serfs and the gulag can be related as they're both effectively abolishing slave labour.

Hope this helped even if it is a bit rambly!

Also, might help you also hanz

Ah thank you for this!! You're a star
Hi, I am wondering if you could help with the title, 'What in your view, was the short term impact of Khrushchev's rejection of Stalinism on Russian government and society?'
To what extent was Russia changed by the reforms brought in between 1906 and 1914?

How would you answer this?
Hi Tom,

I have to consider an essay & presentation title for my Russian module; I’m not a specialist on this front! I was thinking for the essay (2,000 words) ‘To what extent did Stalin cause the Cold-War?’, can you offer any advice, basic essay plan and key texts that may be useful to help me approach this?!

I’m struggling to pin point an area of focus for my presentation, I don’t want to undertake anything too complicated as presentations aren’t my forte! Do you have any suggestions? Many thanks in advance!!:smile::smile:
