Benching was alright on Tuesday but a little tougher than I wanted it to be. I've hit 115x5 @9 so that's a bit weaker but I do think I got rather psyched up for that lift, whereas till the meet I'm trying to really minimise the crazy psyching up.

Pulls today were very good. I did 210x5 thinking it'd be @9 and it was @8 and felt pretty easy. Decided I'd hit it again instead of doing backdown sets and it felt fairly comfortable then too.

Weight is good, but form today felt pretty crap and depth was iffy. Pleased, but last week was a lot better I think. Decided to hit a PR on front squat for lulz, not too hard but left hand/arm was slipping which was bit scary.

Nice fronties.

Belted. Honestly, belt does nothing for me but I wear it more because it provides bit of stability for lower back. I've done multiple sets of same weight with and without and felt same. Video up soon.

Don't get anything on back Squats either or just Fronties?

Definitely helps on back squat. But front squat feels like I can't really brace against the belt for effectiveness.

Felt alright today but I do feel like my bench is just a tad weaker. Maybe the small weight cut for the meet. Equally, when I did 120x3 @9 about 4-5 weeks ago I did get far more hyped up, which I'm trying to avoid until the meet. Decided to not do the pause benches to give myself a bit more rest and also went a little easier on OHP. I think slowly cutting down assistance should do me some good up to the meet.

Pulling felt awesome today. I did 220x3 @9 some weeks ago so I went for a small "PR" on it but 222.5x3 felt very comfortable. Decided to do 225x3 and that definitely felt harder but still had a rep left. Feeling positive about pulling again. My worry now is depth on my squats. Because I have widened my stance it does make it harder to hit depth and I think it's very touch and go with getting whites/reds on them. When I do hit good depth it feels like I'm going ATG. I will look into narrowing my stance after my meet but when I tried today I do get some lower back clicking/grinding which doesn't feel safe.

Bench was a bit meh. Tried to change form a little but probably a bad idea so close to a meet. I do think after the meet I will have to make these changes though. Need to keep much tighter upper back/shoulders back than I do now. Squats were fairly good but tougher than I expected. However, my depth was a lot better than previously. I do think this is the kind of depth I should expect to hit to get whites though, so it only makes sense. Maybe a bit less is required but I'll see on the 22nd how strict they are and what level I need to hit.
Nice squats.

You're on for a pretty damn big total in your comp.

Bench felt decent but form on 125x2 wasn't the best really which made it harder. Because of that, decided to do a few sets at 120x2 to nail form a little form. Sumo was quite good today, 130x2 felt strong.

Goal is 580kg total.

200-205/135/245-250 seem reasonable.

How did it go?

Think guy I know, Peter "kill it" hornyak, won the class with his usual 600+ total.
Competition Results

Squat
185kg - Easy.
195kg - Easy.
202.5kg - Easy. Damn, definitely had more there. Completely buried it and it came up very easy. Positive for the future though, obviously.

Bench
120kg - Easy.
127.5kg - Made it far harder by touching very high. Completely mis-grooved.
132.5kg - Missed. Just didn't have it in me. I peaked too early on bench because I hit 135kg by myself about 6 weeks ago. I could feel myself getting a bit weaker on bench in training and it showed today.

Deadlift
220kg - Easy.
235kg - Easy.
250kg - Missed. Got it to knees.

I had 580kg total stuck in my head. Bench was very poor and it really made it tough. My best is 245kg pull fresh. This day was far from fresh considering it took 5 hours to get from start of squat to here. I thought "**** it" and went for 250kg. Got very psyched up and got it to my knees but didn't have it in me. Then shouted "****" at the top of my lungs and threw my belt on the ground (so fired up in the moment). Then Ben Banks, the SBD Owner, who was at the comp told me off for doing that lol.

Won junior in 83kg class and 3rd in 83kg overall class. Fairly pleased. Not massively competitive but there were 20 people in the 83kg class. Two guys ahead were fair bit older (28 and 34) so I'm not too bothered.
Congrats! You'll get 580 next time. Have you got the next competition in mind?
Very nice lifting.

You beat my friend Yano in juniors and gave Peter a good fight for main 83 title I think. He's short though so it doesn't count.
