It's pretty useless without an egg.

Right, that's how people regrow their own spinal cords and no-one is ever paralysed then, is it?

That's not how it works - 23 chromosomes from each, it's not about bases (I assume you mean the whole ATCG thing?)

Firstly, the egg is pretty useless without genetic information. Genetic information is complex instructions for a specific person, that tells the cell what to do and what enzymes to synthesize to produce a human. It is practically what makes you what you are.

Secondly, it is completely untrue that stem cells only come from female egg cells. Read this...

Stem cells come in three forms: embryonic stem (ES) cells, embryonic germ cells, and adult stem cells. ES cells come from embryos; embryonic germ cells come from testes, and adult stem cells can come from bone marrow. Scientists work mostly with ES cells and adult stem cells.

(From http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/sr-sr/biotech/about-apropos/lab/stem_cells_souches_e.html)

Have a search on BBC news for stem cells and find out more.

Thirdly, you don't just throw 23 chromosomes into an egg from each parent. It's more advanced than that.
I absolutely love being a guy

Periods, pregnancy, emotions... (along with discrimination/objectification you might face); being a guy, having guy mates, and having a wife - awesome.

I'm a Chinese boy.But I won't be unhappy~
Why did you say that?

I don't know, it just seems like girls like them less. And I'm not saying that nobody likes Chinese guys or that being liked by the opposite sex in life is the main thing, and Chinese guys are fun! But being a Chinese girl and being a Chinese boy have notable differences (apart from biologically).
no thank you... i'm comfortable in my own skin

Indeed, but it's not something men are entirely responsible for.

The only type of stem cells that tell a bunch of cells to grow into a baby are found in the egg.

Well of course. Not throw, more... inject.

I think some reasons why people prefer being their gender are rather shallow, I mean, would most women want to become men to avoid periods and childbirth? Most likely not, it is more likely due to the fact that you are socially, cognitively and emotionally conditioned into your gender. However, I hate the "gulf between the sexes" created. Men and women are more similar than they are different - even physiologically. For example, men actually have progesterone as well, which is important for the maintenance of bone strength. I see gender more as a spectrum, with more men at one end and more women at the other, but still a significant amount in the middle with some even on the opposite side to where they "should" be, and even when people appear to be open to not stereotyping, we still prefer to separate sexes due to our own natural need to perceive things less ambiguously. E.g. one time, I was talking about wanting to read pride and prejudice, and somebody said "you probably won't want to read that though". I knew the reason was because it was a more "girly" book, but I deliberately asked "why?" to actually put forward the point that gender aspects can be mixed within an individual, or to the extreme point of transsexuality. However, despite my beliefs on this, I still prefer to be female because I associate so much more with the essence of femininity and being female, I can't stand masculinity..

So your profile says you're a guy because...?

Because that's what I biologically am, and my personality is not completely female, it is merged with my male, so I live parts of my life as a male, part as a female, which is known as a "transgenderist" (between a cross dresser and transsexual). Of course I have wondered whether I was just a man with feminine traits, and being over-dramatic about the whole thing, but I feel now that my female identity is much stronger than just having certain feminine traits. Due to rude, insensitive and narrow-minded comments I had last time when I posted a thread about it, I won't bother going into further detail.

Oh OK, that makes more sense.

I am completely fine with my gender.

However, the only thing which girls get, which makes me a little envious is attention. If your a girl, and your good-looking you can get all the attention you want.

Rather stay a bloke and have the physical strength tbh.
Reply 111
I'd like to be a bloke for like a week, just to see what it was like, but I wouldn't want to be one all the time. I like my body the way it is, but wandering round as a bloke for a week would be cool
Reply 112
Mm, I wouldn't say no to a day as a bloke. Just to see what it was like, and if penises are actually that great. But I'd much rather live as a girl.

Oh yeah, would definitely be interesting to be the opposite sex temporarily, to see what it would be like... it would be so wierd not having breasts (as well as the obvious addition)...
Amusing american teen/comedy film out at the moment: "She's the Man" which deals with this question

Apparently that film is terrible. Read/see Twelfth Night by Shakespeare instead; that's what it's based on :p:

im male and would love to be female, which is why i spend as much time as i can dressed in girls clothes,
Trust a post like this to bring out the feminists :-P

OK OK no offense people, anyways my opinion is I wouldn't mind being a girl providing I was as thin as I am now, I get the feeling girls who have trouble keeping weight off have a tough time, if they let themselves get depressed by it. At the moment I eat loads but don't put on weight, rapid metabolism n all that, so if I was a gal I think i'd like to keep that.

Breasts would be interesting though, not to mention the whole multiple orgasms thing, but still there is always the problem of being continually self conscious (not saying all girls are, just know I would be) and intimidated by girls more attractive than you.

Not having to make the first move would be a nice change too, however there is one major problem...the difficulty of finding porn for girls, not to mention it's far less socially acceptable to masterbate if you're a girl, if only because everyone assumes all guys do!

Yeah it's all very nice to say 'ooh multiple orgasms' - I have to concede on the point that for a girl it's harder to get one at all in the first place... mind you no one's ever experienced both types so maybe ours are better? I wouldn't know.
I've never had one, which says a lot. I doubt you'll find an 18 year old boy anywhere on the planet who could say the same.

Actually female masterbation is seen as pretty standard now, not that this ever stopped us, so w*nk away!
