Post-nominals: to change or not to change?

Two of the universities from which I have degrees have changed their post-nominals since I graduated. On the rare occasions when I put post-nominals, should I use the style that was current during my studentship or should I use the updated one? For example: DPhil (Oxon) or DPhil (Oxf)? :confused:

I know it's trivial but if anyone has any thoughts, do tell!

I'd err on the side of using the one that was used when you were awarded your degree certificate, personally.

Does it say anything about it on your degree certificate?

I'd go with whatever it says on your degree certificate if anything.

I don't think it's going to make the blindest bit of difference though; anyone interested enough in institutional post-nominals are likely to know what Oxon/Oxf represent.
