i see what you did their you comedian
Heavy lateral raises with **** form (swinging the weight rather than using the delts to lift), guaranteed to be all traps.

When you said you wanted a shrug to cover your skinny neck I assumed you meant something like this woman is wearing.

Why do you hate shrugs? Saying they aren't for you is a bit odd
Neck bridges are definitely the best way to get a bigger stronger actual neck.

But shrugs are easier and getting big traps is easier.
Snatch grip high pulls. Infinitely better than shrugs. To be honest anything snatch grip is amazing for upper back, and a high pull is just an explosive shrug which hammers the traps, like all oly lifts. Put the two together and boom, best upper back/traps/neck builder IMO. Unlike shrugs it is actually a functional, compound movement too.
Got to agree with neck bridges...seem common in American sports such as wrestling and american football and they have crazy thick necks.
With strength comes size, but you can maintain strength and build size which is dependant on rep ranges - anyways, here is a video.

Be sure to take note about your posture and such as it can create illusions in terms of appearance!
