Year 12s: what will be the first way you research your future options? >>

Development Studies..? Help!

I was wondering about the best way to get into Development as a career. By this I mean possibly working for charities, the UN, or somewhere focused on aid or developing countries.

I was thinking about possibly doing Development Studies or International Development, apply at universities like LSE, UEA, King's College London, SOAS maybe..?

The only thing is that most of the people I have talked to say that these degrees aren't worthwhile, and that when I complete my degree it would be really hard to get into a career.

So firstly, is it even a worthwhile choice?
and also, which course and which university would you recommend?
