Databse Protection

HI I'm new here so I apologise if this is in the wrong section. However I'm looking for some tips. I am writing a law report with my chosen topic being "To what extent is the hard work of compiling a database legally protected against an employee copying the entire contents and selling it to a rival company?" I was wondering if there are any other acts that can be used to protect the company other than the Data Protection act and the Copyright, Designs and Patent Act. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
Look up the EU Database Directive, the sui generis database right and case law, particularly Robin Ray v Classic FM and the Football Dataco series of cases. Note that the contents may receive separate protection. I'd also question the possibility of an action based on the contract of employment, or a breach of confidence action.
