Can you study theology A level and do well in it if you are atheist?

im starting year 12 in september and i was thinking of taking theology for AS. however i am an atheist in a catholic school and i was wondering if that would be okay to do theology. would it be like gcse RE where you have to learn the catholic responses to questions or do you answer questions from what you really think? also if anyone has done theology AS would you recommend it and was it interesting?

Yes you can do both! I'm not religious myself so I know where you're coming from in that respect. You essentially learn the content but you don't have to actually believe it, if that makes sense?
